Novato, CA (April 21, 2011) After several years of steady growth, Navitas Naturals had utilized every nook and cranny of their work space at 9 Pamaron Way in Novato. Administration, production and warehouse functions were competing for space in one small building. To create efficiencies and accommodate future growth, the organic superfoods company has now branched out into neighboring property at 15 Pamaron Way to create a company campus.
Team morale is high now that the administrative office space is ample, "green," and consolidated in one building at 15 Pamaron. "It's already proving to be a more efficient and enjoyable work environment for everyone," says founder and CEO Zach Adelman, who started the company out of a tiny facility on Hamilton Drive in Novato back in 2003. "The operations side of the company, processing and shipping, also has a new space to grow into," adds Adelman.
The office move is just the first phase of a Navitas Naturals growth initiative that is expected to add several more jobs by the end of 2011. Overall, Navitas' combined administrative, production and warehouse space at 9 Pamaron and 15 Pamaron Way is growing from 9,000 square feet to 13,500. While the crew puts the finishing touches on the new office space, other important changes are ongoing. "We're in the middle of adding a new state-of-the-art production line at 15 Pamaron," notes Adelman. "The equipment will increase capacity by about 30%."
Navitas is the latin word for energy, and ever since the company's founding in 2003, this power concept has been represented by the nutrient-dense organic superfoods they supply. The new work space demonstrates yet another, green, meaning of navitas. There are many green energy features of their new office space including energy efficient HVAC heating and cooling systems, natural lighting with solar shade blinds, and energy efficient lighting and fixtures. Other eco-friendly features include low-flush toilets, non-VOC paints, and low VOC carpets.
The biggest green aspect of Navitas Naturals is that every product they sell is organic, and their facility is certified organic. "Our recent expansion needs presented an ideal opportunity to add a bunch of new green design elements to our operations," says Adelman. "Our new, re-sealable packaging is more eco-friendly, too," he adds. "It's made from #4 recycled plastic, and is designed to be recycled in most town recycling programs, or you can rinse them and re-use them as a bag."
The company anticipates the need for about ten more employees before the end of 2011, in many different areas of the business. "Three positions have already been added in 2011, bringing the total to 32 full-time employees, and there will be more new hires soon in sales, customer service, production, shipping and accounting," notes Adleman.
