Novato, CA (October 12, 2011) Navitas Naturals, a company founded by Toronto native Zach Adelman in 2003, is re-launching its line of nutritious organic superfoods throughout Canada. The company's colorful new packages of maca, cacao, acai, chia, goji berries, goldenberries, mulberries, raw cashews, palm sugar and trail mixes will be unveiled at the Canadian Health Food Association's Expo East show in Toronto on October 15.
The new, bilingual Navitas Naturals packaging for Canada is modeled after a colorful and unique design they have used in the United States which has helped grow sales there by more than 40% in each of the past several years. The new product bags will start appearing on store shelves in Canada from coast-to-coast by the end of 2011.
Navitas Naturals is also pleased to announce the appointment of Tony Waters Agencies (TWA) as its Canadian agent and broker for all classes of trade. We're excited about the wide scope of national coverage that TWA offers, and the added service and attention that their agency will provide for all Navitas retailers and distributors, says Navitas Naturals CEO Zach Adelman. To further advance the superfood company's sales efforts in Canada, Navitas Naturals has also appointed natural products industry veteran Jake Stenton as its Director of Canadian Sales.
Toronto Native Sources Intriguing Organic Foods from Ancient Cultures Around the World
Toronto is a travel-savvy and multi-cultural city to grow up in, and I think that fueled my passion for travel and adventure, including the culinary kind, says Adelman about his roots in Canada's Queen City. Adelman's family had an import/export business there, and that was part of the inspiration for him to start his own international foods company.
A long-time health food enthusiast, Adelman encountered the wonders of a nutritious root vegetable from the Peruvian highlands called Maca, which has been cherished by the indigenous Incan culture for thousands of years. After traveling to South America to experience the maca culture for himself, Adelman, began importing organic maca root powder as Navitas Naturals' original product. Now, more than eight years after his adventure to the Andes Mountains of Peru, maca is still his company's best seller, and Navitas Naturals is one of the leading organic superfoods companies in North America that is driving growth in this hot, emerging category.
Navitas is the Latin word for energy, and Adelman uses the term in the company name to demonstrate his desire to bring a wide array of energizing foods to North America to invigorate the modern Western' diet. Nutrient-rich whole foods are at their best when they are produced by organic agriculture and minimal processing, notes Adelman. That's why all of our products are certified organic and use methods such as freeze-drying and low temperature processing to ensure maximum nutrition and flavor. The company's pure & simple philosophy' is demonstrated by the clean' and streamlined appearance and multi-audience appeal of their new Canadian packaging.
There's nothing more fascinating than visiting a remote community in an ancient land and seeing what they eat, how they prepare it and participating in their traditions, says Adelman. In most cultures around the world, food is medicine, and at Navitas we want to instill that same philosophy with more people here in North America.
Adelman began with Maca as the sole product, and the robust sales it generated encouraged him to harness his love of world travel to search the planet for more functional foods that have long been used by traditional cultures for nutritional and medicinal purposes. In Peru, Adelman formed an alliance with an organic, fair-trade co-op and began to import raw cacao products. In China, he was amazed by the native people's reverence for goji berries, and Navitas Naturals soon became one of the first non-Chinese companies to market them in the U.S. Early success importing goji and cacao inspired him to find and import other previously obscure superfoods that are now bursting onto the health food scene due to their amazing nutrition and flavor including: chia seeds (Chile & Mexico); acai (Brazil); mulberries (Turkey); goldenberries (Columbia); and hemp (Canada).
While many of their superfoods can be enjoyed right out of the bag as a snack such as goji berries and cacao nibs, the culinary use of others is less obvious. Part of the Navitas Naturals mission is to promote superfoods nutrition convenience. We make it easy for people to add superfoods to their diet and lifestyle routine by offering hundreds of free superfoods recipes, and a bunch of helpful how-to chef videos on our website, he says.
As an international foods company, food safety is very important to Navitas Naturals. This is demonstrated by the rigorous third-party testing of their superfoods. From the beginning, Navitas Naturals has been committed to socially responsible business. Their direct purchasing partnerships expand fair trade opportunities for farmers in developing regions around the world. For more about Navitas, visit www.navitasnaturals.com.
